About the Item

Decorate a study, library, or office with this elegant pair of antique armchairs. Crafted in Southern France circa 1870, each tall fauteuil stands on turned legs connected by an H-shaped stretcher for stability. The open scroll armrests are richly carved with expressive ram head sculptures, a distinctive Louis XIII decorative element symbolizing strength and refinement. Each chair features a tall rectangular back and generous seat upholstered in luxurious silk fabric with taupe and ivory stripes accented by floral motifs. The upholstery is further enhanced by decorative brass nail-head trim around the frame. Both armchairs are in excellent condition commensurate with age and use, showcasing a rich walnut patina and beautifully preserved fabric that enhances their stately appearance. Measures: 27" W x 26" D x 45.5" H.
