About the Item

Decorate an office, study, or den with this elegant suite of four antique Louis XV armchairs. Crafted in Provence, France circa 1880, each fauteuil stands on cabriole legs ending in escargot feet, decorated with hand-carved floral motifs at the shoulder. The tall arched back features shell and foliage carvings, while the open armrests display acanthus leaf details. Each chair has a wide and comfortable seat with a scalloped apron adorned with a central shell carving, and both sides are richly embellished with foliate motifs. The set retains its original pale green velvet upholstery, outlined with decorative brass nail-head trim, and includes loose seat cushions for added comfort. The chairs are in excellent condition commensurate with age and use, boasting a rich walnut patina and graceful provincial charm. Measures: 29″ W x 23″ D x 42″ H.
