About the Item

This elegant pair of Louis XVI medallion armchairs perfectly captures the refinement of 19th-century French neoclassical design. Crafted in carved giltwood, each chair features the iconic oval medallion back, a hallmark of Louis XVI-style, enhanced by delicately fluted legs, a decoration of ribbons, garlands of laurel wreaths and acanthus leaves and subtle floral carvings. The rich, warm gilding highlights the sculptural details and brings a luxurious glow to the frames. Upholstered in a sophisticated Blue damask and silk fabric with a soft sheen, these armchairs combine comfort and elegance. The wide, supportive seats and gracefully curved backs make them ideal for both decorative and functional use, whether in a refined living room, a cozy reading corner, or as statement chairs in a bedroom or entrance hall. Their timeless design allows them to complement both traditional interiors and eclectic contemporary spaces that embrace a touch of French heritage. The natural patina of the giltwood, combined with minimal wear consistent with age, adds character and authenticity without compromising their charm. For a cohesive ensemble, an identical pair of armchairs and a matching sofa are also available for sale.
