About the Item

Add rustic warmth to your home with this charming antique low chair, crafted in Spain circa 1860. Built of oak wood, the piece stands on turned legs joined by stretcher supports and features a sculpted backrest decorated with carved floral and foliate motifs. The crest rail is topped with small finials, adding balance and a touch of architectural detail. The wide and deep seat retains its original handwoven rush, offering both comfort and authenticity. The chair boasts its beautifully aged two-tone painted finish in red and white tones, now softly rubbed through with use, revealing a rich patina beneath. Traditionally called a "Catalan Chauffeuse", this low chair was designed to sit near the fireplace for warmth, though it serves equally well today as occasional seating or a decorative accent in any rustic or provincial interior.
