About the Item

Pair of Sanluca armchairs dating back to the first Gavina SpA production, with the original beige velvet upholstery. Each armchair is made of separate wooden curved pieces connected by screws. Sanluca is the first result of deep collaboration and friendship between Dino Gavina and Pier Giacomo Castiglioni, defined by Gavina himself as an extraordinary partnership. Designed by Achille and Pier Giacomo Castiglioni in 1959, in the following year, it was produced for the first time by the newborn Gavina SpA. The Sanluca project revolves around a few well-defined concepts: ergonomics, industrial mass production, overall elegance, and harmony of its forms without giving up comfort. Sanluca is an icon of 20th-century industrial design. It is part of the permanent collection of the Triennale Design Museum in Milan. It has been exhibited in many international exhibitions and museums, including MoMA in New York. Coming from a villa in Portofino, Italy, they are in excellent vintage condition.
