About the Item
Magnificent vintage Chinese Rosewood armchair with Mother of Pearl inlaid details. Beautiful condition, keeping in mind that this is vintage and not new so will have signs of use and wear even if it has been refinished or restored. Specifically, it has a large space between the seat and the front rail but it was made that way-nothing is missing, and it has a slight wobble. It is missing some small pieces of MOP. Please see photos, zoom in for details, and see long description as they are part of the condition report. We attempt to portray any imperfections. Circa, Late 19th to Early 20th Century.
There is something extra special about the luster and sheen found in Mother of Pearl… and we certainly have something extra special to offer you!!! WOW!!!! This is an ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS single armchair composed of Rosewood with an all-over rustic finish and let’s just say… this chair is INCREDIBLE to say the least!! It has a tall, arched back with a center back splat saturated with exquisite hand carved foliate décor including a tree, floral blossoms, and a fabulous feathered fowl… all inlaid with luxurious, iridescent Mother of Pearl details, ergonomically pleasing arms, slightly curved with a stunning scroll design below the arm, square waisted seat, lower apron
cabriole front legs embellished with more Mother of Pearl details, and superb cross
side stretchers accruing both sturdiness AND amazing style!!! It’s an absolute show-stopper!!! This beauty comes with no cushion but it could host one of any color, any fabric, and any style you prefer! And this sensational seat is versatile enough to go just about anywhere! Whether in a closet or dressing area, a corner of your bedroom, an accent or side chair in your sitting room, at the entry for a chic spot to remove your shoes, or that “only mine” chair at the dinner table.
