About the Item
Antique French Louis XVI Painted Wingback Bergere ~ Armchair represents the dawn of comfort in luxurious seating fit for a king! The generous seat back is conjoined with two sides that flare out subtly and are contoured so that drafts are blocked. With the overstuffed seat cushion, one is wrapped in cushy comfort while the cold winter drafts are kept at bay. The silk fabric shows its age but is still serviceable, and wraps around the sides and back of the chair as well, making this design great for placement anywhere in the room. Support is provide by four tapered and fluted legs, with carved embellishments appearing from the seat back crown to the armrests and lower frame including a floral spray, spiral ribbon and acanthus plumes and rosettes. The frame has also been painted a subtle shade of gold for a timeless look.
