About the Item

An exceptionally rare and important 17th century Venetian throne chair of remarkable craftsmanship. This impressive piece, standing at 135 cm high with a seat height of 51 cm, epitomizes the grandeur of Baroque Venice. The chair is richly carved in solid walnut wood with extraordinary detail, featuring entwined vine-leaf and trunk motifs, demonstrating the virtuosity of Venetian artisans of the period. The bold, sculptural arms and stretcher further emphasize its monumental character. Upholstered in original 16th-17th century silk damask fabric in red and gold, it conveys both opulence and authority. Of particular note, the chair bears an official stamp from a historical monuments department dating back to 1930, signifying its recognition as a culturally significant and unique artifact nearly a century ago. Most likely this incredible armchair was part of a Venetian Palazzo at the time. This Venetian throne chair is not only a functional piece of seating but also a museum-worthy object of art and history- a true collector’s item that embodies the splendor of 17th century Venice. A rare opportunity to acquire a highly decorative and historically important throne chair, certain to become the focal point of any distinguished collection or interior.
