About the Item
The Breakwave Chair by Aparentment is a sculptural, limited-series piece handcrafted in white concrete. Presented at Design Miami 2023 at the Barcelona Booth, this design was part of the curatorial framework A New Decorum—a concept honoring the art of hosting by offering guests the very best of oneself through furniture as gesture and presence.
Inspired by breakwater blocks along the shoreline, the chair contrasts sculptural form with the raw solidity of concrete—achieving a balance of elegance and strength. Its monolithic, architectural silhouette makes it a bold functional sculpture in the spirit of brutalist design, ideal for both indoor and outdoor environments. As a limited-edition collectible, it reflects contemporary craftsmanship and material purity.
Each piece is individually cast and hand-finished, with slight variations that highlight the artisanal process and ensure uniqueness. As a result, Breakwave is not only a seat but a collectible object that speaks to contemporary materiality and poetic form.
Ideal for design-forward interiors, galleries, or architectural spaces that value authenticity, storytelling, and emotional resonance through design.
