About the Item

Unique fine quality Arts Crafts mahogany armchair re-upholstered in dark blue horse hair. This chair on first appearnce is in the style of Glasgow architect George Walton but is in fact by furniture designer Percy Wells. Most of Well's furniture was made in oak in a somewhat pedestrian style echoing the designs of Ambrose Heal and Spooner Penty at The Hampshire House Workshops. It's possible this chair was an exhibition piece as the top quality craftsmanship and sophistication of design is far superior to Well's commercial output.
