About the Item

This pair of “Commander” armchairs was conceived to attend Brazil’s growing market of office furniture. The first model (with casters) was developed in 1973 and later, this fixed model was designed. They were designed by Jorge Zalszupin and manufactured by L’Atelier Moveis in the seventies. The chairs are made with a cantilever aluminum structure, fiberglass, and brown Italian leather. The aluminum has been repolished, the fiberglass restored, and the seating has been reupholstered to ensure that the chairs are in excellent condition. This stunning pair of armchairs can be styled into any home interior. Designer Bio: Jorge Zalszupin was a Brazilian architect and furniture designer who was born in Poland in 1922. He moved to Brazil in the 1950s and quickly became known for his innovative furniture designs that blended elements of European modernism with Brazilian warmth and tropical materials. Finally, Zalszupin's influence on the Brazilian design community has helped to shape a unique design aesthetic that continues to inspire designers around the world. Zalszupin's work was characterized by clean lines, bold shapes, and a playful use of color, and he created many iconic pieces of furniture that are still popular today. In addition, his furniture is known for its high quality craftsmanship and attention to detail, which results in pieces that are both beautiful and durable. Zalszupin's furniture continues to be highly sought after by collectors and enthusiasts around the world, and his influence can be seen in the work of many contemporary designers who continue to draw inspiration from his innovative and playful approach to modern design. Zalszupin passed away in 2020 at the age of 98.
