About the Item

ChatGPT ha dit:“Chairs for Skygazing – SKY” is a sculptural, collectible armchair by Spanish designer Andreu Carulla, created to literally change the way we look at the world. Part of his ongoing Chairs for Skygazing series, this piece reimagines a traditional Spanish tavern armchair to encourage the user to look up to the sky instead of down at the ground. While it can still be used as a conventional chair, SKY gently invites a new posture and mindset: the seat is upholstered in a reflective technical fabric that mirrors the sky above, “forcing” the user to see what is overhead. As Carulla states: “We look at the sky to stop looking at the ground. Let’s raise our heads. Let’s aim high. Let’s turn everything upside down and rethink the future.” The concept emerged after a challenging post-pandemic year, when Andreu Carulla sought to propose a more hopeful outlook through design. By reworking an everyday object found in every home, he uses the chair itself to lift the chin and shift focus towards optimism, resilience and a renewed vision of the future. A striking conceptual art chair and collectible design piece, SKY operates between furniture and sculpture, making it ideal for design galleries, curated interiors and art-focused collections. Exhibited at Design Miami 2024. Andreu Carulla is the Founder and Chief Designer of Andreu Carulla Studio and ACID (Andreu Carulla Industrial Design). His work is defined by a constant exploration of materials, traditional craftsmanship and contemporary manufacturing processes, spanning furniture, jewellery, interiors, lighting and object design. The studio combines artisan techniques with innovative industrial processes for clients such as Nanimarquina, IDEË, Mobles114, Cervezas Alhambra and El Celler de Can Roca, and has received international recognition including the Good Design Award (2019).
