Matching pair of early and very elegant Scandinavian Mid-Century Modern armchairs in stained beech and green upholstery. Designed by Alfred Christensen for Slagelse Møbelværk, Denmark in the 1940s.
Classic design with wonderfully curved armrests and tapering legs. From the transition period between Danish Art Deco and Mid-Century Modern.
Very comfortable chair with eminent back support, even for tall people. Firm and supportive seat with original spring upholstery.
The chairs are in good original strong vintage condition with patina consistent with age and use. Signs of use on fabric and wood including a small hole in fabric on the side of one chair.

Eva Koppel was, along with Nanna Ditzel, one of the most prominent female designers in the Danish Modern movement in the mid 20th century. In the late 1930s she studied under Alvar Aalto and together with her husband Niels Koppel she was responsible for several famous buildings in Copenhagen.
