Dining chairs, oak, The Netherlands, 1940s
These subtle and modest chairs from Dutch origin are executed in oak that has a natural expression due to the visible wooden grains and warm tone. Hence, this gives these chairs an authentic and natural allure. The design of each chair is based on a stabile construction of straight lines and geometrical shapes. The backrest is composed of two evenly placed wooden slats giving the chair an open character. Furthermore, the back is slightly titled which provides comfort to the sitter. An overall patina contributes to the original look of this chair. In absence of decorative details, the design convinces visually through the well-balanced appearance and the transparent construction.
