About the Item
United workshops, Munich. Upholstered beech wood frame with spring core on metal runners, metal sheet, chrome-plated, red leather. Integrated lights in both ears, built-in ashtray and cigarette compartment in the right armrest.
Original design for the palace of the Maharajah of Indore. Re-edition limited to 25 + 1 by the United Workshops, Munich.
The son of Hermann Muthesius, the German architect and interior designer Eckart Muthesius lived in India between 1930-1939. The Maharaja of Indore commissioned him to decorate and design his Palace at Manik Bagh in the modern International Style; it became a large-scale art project and Muthesius incorporated furniture designed by Eileen Gray, Le Corbusier, Marcel Breuer and Ivan da Silva Bruhns.
