About the Item

Designed by the visionary Finnish designer Eero Aarnio, this rare pair of Elephant Boot lounge chairs from the 1970s perfectly reflects his playful and avant-garde approach to design. Crafted from natural rattan, these chairs display a beautiful original patina, adding depth and character while attesting to their authenticity and age. Their sculptural, organic form—reminiscent of an elephant’s boot—creates a striking visual presence while remaining inviting and comfortable. The rattan weaving is overall very well preserved. There are a few very minor losses, subtle and consistent with age and use, which do not affect the structural integrity or the overall aesthetic of the chairs. Ideal as statement pieces in contemporary, vintage, or mid-century modern interiors, this pair represents a highly collectible example of 1970s Scandinavian design.
