About the Item
A Fantastic and Quite Well Constructed 19th-Century English George III Hand-Carved Mahogany Open Armchair. The rectangular backrest has a subtly curved crest rail and is fully upholstered. The arms are secured by curved mahogany supports, each terminating in a square block joint at the seat frame. The seat is fully upholstered. The mahogany frame consists of square-section front and rear legs, joined by H-form stretchers. The front legs are highly carved with gorgeous hand-work. The chair is covered in a textured rich mocha suede fabric. The arm supports are molded and curve downward toward the seat, with chamfered edges. The backrest upholstery is stretched over a solid frame. The mahogany has a dark-stained surface with a polished finish.
