About the Item
Armchair with arms and high backrest of the type known as "frailero" upholstered in red and yellow textile, with fringes on the seat and the lower part of the backrest. The carved decoration of vegetal elements and grooves is centered on the finishes of the backrest and on the front of the piece of furniture; the chambrane that presents between the front legs, openwork, show simple geometric shapes and curved details around a carved figurehead. The frailero armchair, originally Italian, became one of the most common pieces of Spanish furniture since its introduction in the 16th century, being characteristic of this and the XVII and recovering again in the historicist current of the 19th century."
