About the Item

This pair of French circa 1900 armchairs shows the remarkable craft and creativity that defined the late Victorian-Art Nouveau period around Europe. The wood frames were patiently bent and carved to mimic bamboo stalks, terminating in elegantly scrolled arms, woven and wrapped with rattan on the armrests. Other exotic touches include fan-shaped brackets between the arm and seatback, braced with an iron curule stretcher joining the chair legs. Comfortable and supportive seats are of ideal proportions for even your tallest guests, currently upholstered in a worn, latte-colored faux suede.
