About the Item

A beautiful armless chair, handcrafted in India out of aged and naturally seasoned teak wood, inlaid with responsibly sourced bone, and complemented by a removable cushion. Inlay is an ancient decorative technique that involves embedding delicate, hand-carved pieces of bone (in the beginnings it was ivory or ebony) into the surface of an object, generally wood. The result makes for a striking pattern, floral or geometric, of contrasting colors and materials that make these pieces truly unique examples of classic Anglo-Indian furniture. Handcrafted from start to finish by artisans with techniques passed down through generations, no two pieces of inlaid furniture are exactly the same. These charming chairs can be used as dinner chairs or accent chairs, for an eye-catching, exotic accent to any ambient. A framed removable cushion rests freely on the sturdy wood frame, upholstered in basic muslin. This cushion can be easily removed and reupholstered to match any color scheme. Two available.
