About the Item

Very rare chair made of bamboo and wicker, designed in 1956 by French-Dutch couple Janine Abraham and Dirk Jan Rol. The famous couple won several awards, including the gold medal at the 1958 Brussels Expo for this special chair. (see last photo) Very few were made, and a set of these chairs with a matching coffee table was ordered in 1958 by Shah Pahlavi of Iran for his garden in Baghdad (recommended by Jean Royère, who designed the interior).
