About the Item
An original “Klinte” easy chair designed by Tord Björklund for IKEA in the 1980s. The chair features a tubular steel frame with a suspended seat and backrest in natural saddle leather. The armrests are wrapped in matching leather, softening the industrial structure with a warm, organic touch.
Produced during a period when IKEA collaborated with several notable Swedish designers, the “Klinte” reflects Björklund’s interest in honest materials and clear, functional geometry. The construction recalls modernist tubular designs of the mid-century, reinterpreted through a Nordic lens of comfort and craftsmanship.

ABOUT THE DESIGNER – Tord Björklund
Tord Björklund (born 1944) is a Swedish designer known for his expressive yet rational approach to furniture design. Working for IKEA during the late 1970s and 1980s, he created pieces that balanced sculptural clarity with functional comfort. His designs often feature tubular steel frames and leather slings — a modernist influence reinterpreted through the Nordic ideals of simplicity, authenticity and use of natural materials.
