About the Item

Late 19th/early 20th century armchair in stained wood with straw seat, typical of the Provence region of France. Backrest with three slats in a ‘moustache’ pattern, spindle-shaped turned armrests and curved carved arms, legs finished with balls and seven crossbars. The structure is in good condition, the woodwork shows signs of age but the armchair can be used on a daily basis. The straw seat is in good condition and may have been re-covered in the last century, as was often the case. There are traces of woodworm but no further activity, and the wood is sound. Probably fruit wood, walnut, difficult to determine precisely. A very attractive piece of furniture with the patina of age and traces of a life spent in the south of France over a century ago!
