Marking the transition between the Louis XVI and Empire styles, it is characterized by a sober style and simple forms. The Directoire style covers the end of the reign of Louis XVI, the Convention (1792-1795), the Directory (1795-1799) and the Consulate (1799-1804). The Directoire style is part of both the late Louis XVI style and the beginnings of the Empire.
