About the Item
M. H. Baillie Scott, attributed. Three Arts and Crafts high-back oak armchair with a tall back rising to a pierced top rail, constructed in quarter-sawn oak. Two examples have leather-inset backs, while one example has a fabric-inset back.
Although there is no firm evidence that these were designed by M. H. Baillie Scott, the planked full-length backs, stylised fretwork tree designs to the top, triangular seats, and low floor stretchers all strongly point to his hand.
Identical versions are illustrated in Siegfried Wichmann, Jugendstil: Floral and Functional Forms, Bayerisches Nationalmuseum, Munich 1984, p.121, pl.244. A similar example is illustrated on the Blackwell guidebook cover (Baillie Scott, Blackwell, Windermere).
Three available. Can be sold either as a matching pair, a set of three, or the fabric chair individually.

Six Very Rare 1930s Burr Oak Restored Robert Mouseman Thompson Dining Chairs 6
By Robert Thompson
Located in West Sussex, Pulborough
We are delighted to offer for sale this very rare set of six burr oak 1930s Robert Mouseman Thompson dining chairs in fully restored condition
These chairs have been fully restored, all the original woven seats had dried and perished over the last 90-100 years of use, there weren’t safe to use, as such I have had all the woven leather replaced on every chair, it took 3-4 hides of thick veg tan plain leather which was hand dyed back to the original chestnut brown colour, I have a complete suite of pictures of the entire process. The frames have been glued and clamped where required, treated for insects as a matter of process not need, then deep cleaned waxed and polished
The timber on these chairs is a bit of a lottery jackpot, they have the original scalloped backs which is basically the honeycombed look and feel, but these panels are all burr oak. To put this in context a small milking stool by Mouseman may sell for £200-£300 in normal oak, in burr oak it sells for £1600-£2000. The timber is super rare, highly collectable and the finest of all the Mouseman...
