About the Item
An elegant mid-century armchair in stained beech, retaining its original striped wool upholstery in warm tones of brown, black, and cream. The gently curved arms, sculpted backrest and tapered legs express a soft, organic modernism typical of Northern European design of the 1950s and 1960s. The open top rail and generous backrest give the chair both lightness and support, making it comfortable for extended sitting.
Although the exact maker is unverified, the craftsmanship and form align with the Danish and Swedish modernist tradition — where solid wood, natural upholstery and ergonomic shaping were combined to create furniture that balanced clarity and comfort.
We chose to preserve the original upholstery for its authentic mid-century character and beautiful texture. As a result, the chair shows some movement in the armrests along with natural marks and patina on the wooden parts — details that speak to its honest age and use. A charming and comfortable piece that adds warmth and personality to any interior.
