Mid-Century Modern blue velvet lounge chairs by Giuseppe Rossi, Italy 1950s Designed in the late 1950s by Giuseppe Rossi and newly reupholstered, this pair of lounge chairs offers not only a very comfortable seating surface with arm rests, but also gives every interior space a touch of eclectic blue magic! The recently polished brass legs serve as a golden highlight in contrast to the chair's deep blue velvet fabric, which features a light blue change of colour on the armrests and the back. Rossi d'Albizzate is a furniture company tied to the Italian Rossi family. In 1923 Felice Rossi started a family business in Arsago as an individual company for the production and trade of mattresses, upholstery and saddlery and with a branch in Cavaria. His younger brother Giuseppe also worked there, who in 1935 separated from Felice and, with his wife Maria Saporiti, established his own individual firm in Cavaria, focusing on fabric upholstery. Giuseppe Rossi worked on improving mechanisms, which lead to the creation of dynamic models based on the transformability of the functions contained in suitable aesthetic forms: the armchair that becomes a bed, the bed that becomes an armchair. It was the beginning of a long series of inventions and patents, as well as the realization of the Rossi company philosophy, which will guide all the subsequent evolution: to create beautiful, useful and long-lasting furniture.
