About the Item

Mid-century swivel lounge chair, model Rondo, produced by the Swedish manufacturer Göte Möbler i Nässjö AB. Introduced in 1962, the Rondo model is a striking example of Scandinavian design from the period, combining sculptural form with lightweight construction. The chair features a generously proportioned circular seat crafted from finely bent and woven rattan, creating an airy yet supportive seating experience. The seat is mounted on a tubular steel swivel base with an elegant looped design, providing both stability and freedom of movement. The company Göte Möbler was founded in the small Swedish town of Nässjö in 1950 by furniture salesman Göte Öhrskog. Originally operating solely as a retailer, the company began producing its own furniture in 1953 after Göte acquired a low-cost liquidation stock from a local upholstery workshop that had gone bankrupt. Swivel easy chairs soon became the company’s main product, often upholstered in leather. At its peak in the 1970s, Göte Möbler employed more than 70 people.
