About the Item

A rare near pair of finely crafted Empire-style desk chairs, attributed to renowned French cabinetmaker Jacob Desmalter, dating from circa 1800–1809. These elegant chairs feature boldly carved lion’s head arms, turned front legs, and graceful saber rear legs—hallmarks of early 19th-century Parisian neoclassicism. Upholstered in supple leather with nailhead trim, the chairs present beautifully and retain their strong architectural presence. Pairs of this quality and period are seldom found, making this a remarkable opportunity for collectors and designers alike.
