About the Item

Pair 19th Century French Louis XVI walnut armchairs ~ fauteuils is truly a timeless classic! Featuring curved oval seatbacks and generous seats, the pair offers surprising comfort, and the very high quality of the upholstery ensures decades of enjoyment with a modicum of care. The frames are works of the furniture-maker's art with fine sculpted details appearing over the entire facade. Flowing ribbon appears at the crown of the seatback, cascading onto the frame, the entirety of which is carved with spiral ribbon and beading, which transitions into the padded armrests tipped with acanthus plumes, and carved with upturned acanthus fronds where the armrest support joins with the seat frame. Spiral ribbon motif is again used on the apron, punctuated by the plinth blocks carved with rosettes upon which the tapered and fluted legs are affixed. An incredible, timeless combination perfect for providing the finishing touches on your decor! If you act fast, the original matching four side chairs are still available, sold separately!
