About the Item

This pair of early 19th century French Empire period walnut armchairs features hand carved details of laurels on the seat back and shells at the top of the armrests. The seat backs are curved for comfort and the seat rests on gently curved legs "en sabre", or like sabers in English. A handsome pair upholstered in silk, circa 1810.
