About the Item
19th Century French Louis XVI carved armchairs, created in France circa 1880 and modeled after refined late-18th-century neoclassical seating. Each antique fauteuil features a tall, straight back with elegant proportions and stands on tapered and fluted front legs accented with square medallions at the shoulders, joined by a shaped apron and fluted back legs. The gracefully scrolled armrests are fitted with padded supports and embellished with carved fluted details, reflecting the restrained elegance characteristic of the Louis XVI style.
The deep, comfortable seats are fitted with removable plush cushions and complemented by bolster back pillows for enhanced comfort. Both chairs are upholstered in a neutral linen fabric that lends a soft, timeless presence and allows for easy integration into a variety of interiors. The carved wood frames retain a hand-painted white and grey rubbed patinated finish, showcasing a desirable antique surface with gentle wear consistent with age and use.
