About the Item

This rare pair of armchairs was designed by Angelo Mangiarotti and produced by the Italian manufacturer La Sorgente dei Mobili in the early 1970s. The design is defined by the bold geometry of the upholstered frame, balanced by the soft curve of the armrests. Each chair rests on four elongated, diabolo-shaped legs crafted from sapele mahogany. Generously proportioned and visually striking, the chairs convey a sense of sumptuous comfort while maintaining lightness and modernity, with the seat appearing to float gracefully above the elegant legs. The chairs have been fully reconditioned and restored. They are newly upholstered in a lichen green fabric by Dedar — a compact Panama weave of British wool and Belgian linen. The fabric undergoes a double piece-dyeing process, creating a subtle mélange effect with rich depth and a natural, matte finish that feels soft to the touch. Its muted tone provides an elegant contrast to the warm, gently lustrous sapele mahogany legs, which have also been carefully restored and refinished.
