About the Item

A striking and highly sculptural pair of early 20th-century Swedish monk chairs, handcrafted in solid oak. These chairs are distinguished by their bold Brutalist character, richly carved geometric and floral motifs, and architectural construction. Each chair features a deeply carved backrest panel with repeating geometric patterns and a central rosette motif, supported by curved carved elements that give the chairs a strong, almost ceremonial presence. The turned legs and triangular seat construction further emphasize the handmade nature and craftsmanship of the pieces. The chairs are not identical, with slight variations in height, proportions, and carving details, underscoring their artisanal origin and making them a truly unique pair. Such differences are typical of early handmade furniture and add to their authenticity and charm. We currently have additional chairs of this model in stock. Please contact us if you are interested in acquiring more than this pair.
