About the Item
Whimsical pair of armchairs in the Empire style, that were made for the theatre in the 1930s - 1940s. As theatre props go, these are very sturdily built.
Painted in an off-white colour, with "gilt" decor, and upholstered in sage green cotton fabric (meant to imitate silk), with laurel wreaths painted onto the backs and seats.
These armchairs are meant more for decorative purposes rather than real comfort, as the seats are not very deep.
