About the Item

A beautiful and high quality pair of French early 19th century Louis XV st. giltwood armchairs. Each armchair is raised by elegant cabriole legs with lovely carved foliate designs and finely carved cabochons at each corner. The decorative arbalest shaped frieze is centered by a richly carved floral reserve flanked by foliate movements. Each finely scrolled cushioned armrest displays the same elegantly scrolled movements and fluted, mottled carvings. The upholstered back support displays a finely carved foliate border and is 'A Chassis' which signifies the ease of removing the seat and back enabling to change the upholstery for every season. With all original gilt throughout.
