About the Item
A stunning pair of French Louis XVI style painted armchairs or fauteuils with "caps de gendarmes" detailing, tapered fluted legs, and having lovely French black and white re-editioned toile upholstery with gimp trim. The toile pattern, America Paying Homage to France (L'Homage d'Amérique à la France), was originally designed by Jean-Baptiste Huet (c. 1783-1789).

- Condition:Reupholstered. Refinished. Wear consistent with age and use. Chair frames have been repainted with milk paint and restored in France to be very solid. Paint shows minot wear consistent with age and use. Toile fabric is fairly recent.
