About the Item
An elegant and high quality pair of Genovese 19th century Louis XV st. Giltwood armchairs. This impressive pair of high backed armchairs from Genoa are raised by four scrolled legs with bottom wrapped acanthus leaves and top carved foliate branches with flowers. The front and side scalloped aprons display a stunning satin finish with a top and bottom burnished trim. The center of the front apron is decorated by a seashell reserve flanked by foliate branches. The double scrolled arms display additional decorative carvings of sprays and acanthus leaves. The curved upholstered back has an elegant top reserve of flowers flanked by floral branches. At the four corners are additional carved reserves amidst the mottled shaped frame.
