About the Item

A most attractive pair of Italian 18th century Louis XVI period walnut armchairs. Each chair is raised by circular tapered fluted legs below the mottled frieze. The arms display charming and wonderfully carved scrolled movements and twisted foliate designs. The upholstered back support, which is also upholstered at the rear, displays a mottled design and top foliate reserve. Finished with brass nail heads. Wonderful proportions and rich patina throughout.
