This exceptional pair of Italian Art Deco lounge chairs, crafted in the 1930s, exemplifies the sculptural elegance and refined craftsmanship that defined Italian decorative arts during the interwar period. Originating from a private villa in Naples, these pieces remain in fully original and museum-quality condition.
Each chair features a bold U-shaped silhouette executed in richly figured walnut burl with magnificent book-matched grain patterns and a warm, deep patina. The curved frame rests on a plinth base and is accented by a decorative wooden sphere beneath the seat — a signature Art Deco motif symbolizing balance and movement.
The chairs retain their original jacquard velvet upholstery, woven in opulent shades of burgundy, gold, and olive green with a striking floral-geometric design. The fabric is beautifully preserved, displaying only minor signs of age that underscore the authenticity of these 1930s masterpieces.
The wooden frames show a few small, old woodworm traces — professionally treated and stabilized to ensure full structural integrity. This treatment preserves the historic materials while guaranteeing longevity for continued use and display.
