About the Item

A rare and Important pair of Italian Mid-Century hand carved walnut lounge chairs, club chairs or armchairs in a 'Modern Craftsman' style by the Italian architect, Pierluigi Colli (1895-1968). The chairs reflect the hand made craftsman aesthetic in their unique aesthetic, materials, form and construction methods. They are made in beautiful walnut wood. The pieces are linear in form, yet delicately angled to support a seat and back. They are superbly and uniquely carved; the flat carved side spindles are tapered in both directions and are incised by hand in a pattern reflective of ancient abstractions. The arms are hand hammered with a mallet as a finishing touch. Overall, these are precious but functional works of art.
