About the Item
We are delighted to offer for sale this exceptionally rare pair of Victorian Chesterfield library armchairs with Liberty’s of London style Art Nouveau carved frames
What a pair of chairs!!! I have never seen another like them with the Liberty’s Art Nouveau frames before. I collect the rare Archibald Knox sterling silver that he made for Liberty’s towards the end of the Victorian era and these chairs just scream that they came from the same workshop
The leather upholstery is nicely faded, its chesterfield buttoned to the back and base, the leather is fully aniline natural cattle hide, the frames are solid oak, the castors are original brass and porcelain, these chairs are a tour de force of style, design and craftsmanship
They are of course library reading armchairs, they have a good straight back, oversized arms and a coil sprung seat platform. We have cleaned waxed and polished them from top to bottom, they will have normal age and use related patina marks here and there

Please note vintage period and original items such as leather seating will always have natural patina in the form of cracking creasing and wear, we recommend regular waxing to ensure no moisture is lost, also hand dyed leather is not recommended to sit in direct sunlight for prolonged periods of time as it will dry out and fade.
