DESCRIPTION: Pair of Louis XIII Armchairs, Circa 17th Century, France 18th-Century French Louis XIII Armchair: walnut, carved frame, turned legs and arm support, inclined back. Early Craftsmanship and Elegance CONDITION: Good condition. Wear consistent with age and use. DIMENSIONS: Height: 107cm (42in) Width: 70cm (27.5in) Depth: 90cm (35.5in) Seat Height: 41cm (16in) ABOUT THE STYLE: Louis XIII furniture featured veneer, turned wood and moldings. There was a tendency toward the architectural; its forms being restrained and often massive. The economic situation called for rigour, which was reflected in the sobriety of the materials and the style. Geometric in appearance, and austere in conception.
