About the Item
A very attractive pair of Louis XV style cabriolet armchairs in molded and carved wood with flower motifs.
The front legs are arched and end in crowbars. The rear legs are saber-shaped.
Very fine French work from the late 19th or early 20th century.
Both armchairs are upholstered in a silky blue fabric.
These beautiful chairs have ideal dimensions, making them elegant seats with beautiful movement, very representative of the lightness and art of living in the 18th century.
The cabriolet armchairs are very comfortable; their rounded backrests embrace the back and allow for a healthy and pleasant sitting experience.

The Louis XV style succeeds the Regency style. It is also called the Rocaille or Rococo style.
The inventors of the Louis XV style are true creators in the modern sense of the term, revolutionizing the way of looking at furniture and interior decoration. In this respect it can be compared to the Gothic style and Art Nouveau in the sense that they represent creation and technical advances in the use of materials.
The Pompadour, transition and Louis XVI styles will succeed the Louis XV style, which will remain an inspiration found in each of these 3 styles.
Many Louis XV style rooms can still be found today in the Palace of Versailles.
