Pair of Lucite Armchairs, American, circa 1970s–1980s
A sculptural pair of Lucite armchairs, American, circa 1970s–1980s, featuring gracefully curved frames in thick, transparent Lucite. The continuous sweep of the arms into the front legs creates a fluid silhouette, lending the chairs both structural elegance and a sense of motion. Each chair is set on casters, underscoring their functional versatility while maintaining a light visual footprint.
The upholstered seats and backs are recovered in a pale neutral velvet, complementing the Lucite’s clarity and softness. The upholstery is stained so we recommend re-upholstery for these chairs.
Their form recalls the work of Charles Hollis Jones and other mid-to-late-century designers who embraced acrylic as both medium and statement.
In good vintage condition with light wear to the Lucite consistent with age. Ideal as occasional chairs, office seating, or as part of a glamorous vanity or dressing room arrangement.
