About the Item

Pair of modernist wooden reclining armchairs by Jan Vanek with original upholstery. The armchairs were manufactured by UP Závody Brno, circa 1935. Jan Vanek (1891–1962) was architect, designer, furniture manufacturer and publicist. A prestige order for Vanek's company was the production of furniture for the Villa Tugendhat in Brno, who was built circa 1929-1930 after Mies van der Rohe's plans. In the image gallery, the last illustaration: "Jan Vanek (1891-1962) - a civilized living for everyone", exhibition in the Prague City Museum, 2010.
