About the Item
A pair of ‘Mondo’ armchairs designed by Karl Erik Ekselius for JOC Vetlanda, Sweden, in the 1970s. The design features a brushed aluminium cantilevered frame with open armrests, paired with ribbed cushions in their rare original dusty pink leather upholstery. The combination of light metal structure and generous leather padding reflects the balance of industrial precision and comfort characteristic of Ekselius’ work.
Karl Erik Ekselius was one of Sweden’s key modernist designers, active in developing furniture for JOC Vetlanda that merged clarity of form with the functional demands of everyday use. ABOUT THE DESIGNER
Karl Erik Ekselius (1914–1998) was a Swedish designer who trained as an architect and went on to create some of the most refined modernist furniture of the mid-20th century. At JOC Vetlanda, he produced a wide range of designs that remain sought after today for their balance of elegant proportions, quality materials, and practical usability.
