About the Item
These armchairs are a contemporary design piece with a strongly sculptural and minimalist aesthetic, clearly referencing Constructivism and the De Stijl movement (particularly the geometric designs of Gerrit Rietveld).
The structure is made of solid wood stained a deep black with an open-pore finish, revealing the natural grain.
The shape is rigorously geometric: the armrest and backrest are composed of large rectangular slabs arranged to form a sort of "S" or open three-dimensional spiral, creating the effect of suspended and intersecting planes.
The low, square seat features a padded cushion covered in cream-white faux fur (or sheep's wool), creating a striking contrast in texture and color with the hardness of the black wood.
There are no curves: everything is angular, clean-cut, almost brutalist in its design.
The optical effect is that of an "impossible" or suspended armchair, where the surfaces appear to float without any obvious structural support (even though they are actually solidly connected).
It's more of a work of art than a simple piece of furniture: a bold, monolithic, graphic, and visually striking armchair-sculpture.
Style: Radical/postmodern/neominimalist design with Rietveld-Stijl influences and a touch of conceptual provocation.
