About the Item

This iconic piece of furniture with its characteristic A-shaped profile is a rare Classic of history. Through its sophisticated proportions and its elegant shape the chair represents the timeless mindset of modernist architecture and design. It consists of natural materials as solid teak wood and its upholstery of colored fur. It's few but well executed elements underline its simplicity and roughness and support the chair's appearance. Pierre Jeanneret counts as one of the most influential architects and designers of the modernist period. Alongside Le Corbusier he was involved in countless projects, that had a major impact on our understanding of modern architecture. We are taking care to not restoring too much in order to keep as much as possible of the historical traces and value. Authenticity: We sell only authentic midcentury objects. The owner of the gallery picks in India each piece on his own. We buy all objects unrestored, so all traces and important indicators of authenticity are visible. All wooden parts are original. We don’t replace damaged parts by new once or from some other damaged Jeanneret pieces. The patina is very important and during the restoration we try to preserve as much as possible of it. Old cracks, many layers of scratches, old traces of worn lacquer, distortions of the beams or the oxidation of the wood because of peoples touch are important signs of authenticity. The upholstery has been redone. There are fakes and Chandigarh objects never have serious provenance papers, so it's smart to buy from experts. We add a “Certificate of Authenticity”. Please note: We have an another chair in the same condition. The upholster can be redone in any color and fabric.

Reupholstered. Refinished. Wear consistent with age and use. The object was in great condition. Just a cleaning and a nourishing of all wood pieces. Upholster has been redone in 2019. – Please note: We have an another chair in the same condition. The upholster can be redone in any color and fabric.
