About the Item

Beautiful and iconic pair of two Costela armchairs by legendary Brazilian designers Carlo Hauner and Martin Eisler for Forma, Brazil. Excellent condition, teak wood. The name "Costela," which translates as rib, is evident in the design with its eight darkly stained wooden slats resembling a rib structure. The slats are placed rhythmically and curve upward on the sides. Martin Eisler (Vienna, Austria, 1913 - São Paulo, Brazil, 1977) was an architect and furniture designer. He was part of a group of European architects and designers who left Europe during the chaos of World War II and went to live and work in Brazil. Eisler stood out amongst this group of creatives. His work was at the forefront of modern furniture design in Brazil, which flourished in the 1950s and 1960s. Il lavoro di Eisler in collaborazione con Carlo Hauner (1927-1996) fu di particolare importanza
